Furry conventions and logistics, Coyote Express

How can Coyote Express help the fandom?

Furries everywhere clamber to attend conventions all over the world. Every year more and more cons pop up, and attendance is at an all time high in 2024 with projections saying it’ll only get higher. The Fandom is growing, and though I may be a humble Coyote, I have taken a keen interest in how I can help it.

The Dealer’s Den

Central to the furry convention is the dealer’s den. Typically the largest room apart from the main events stage, they are massive affairs in which every craft and item that can be thought of can be bought. From fursuits and tails, to custom and imported cars. I have easily found myself buying home grown organic tea at one booth, and custom built electronic displays at the next. The furry convention’s dealers den is for those who attend, the modern Bazaar.

A Logistics Nightmare

For many furries, our con season lasts only a few months in Summer, or a few scattered throughout the year. Typically only the events within your state or near enough to drive, and maybe a few you’d like to drive to.

For dealers, however, the con season lasts from January to December, with only a few weeks of rest between cons. Most often, they have to get their stock across the country within a matter of days to ensure they can make it to each and every event they intend to get to.

Just look at a map of furry conventions to see how spread out they could be: https://en.wikifur.com/FurryConventionMap.html

I go into a bit more detail about my experience with dealers here: https://coyoteexpress.bizlaunchuniversity.com/2024/10/20/74/

For dealers, they have to make money from their craft. This is their job. However, they do not wish to trust non-furs, sometimes called “Mundanes” or “Normies”, with things that are far more precious than they could possibly understand.

One must always remember, for furries, each and every fursuit is considered a wearable piece of art. It takes years to hone the craft of suit making, and a full suit can take over a hundred manhours to make. The care and reverence many furries give to their suits is something that Mundanes rarely truly understand.

This leaves them with one choice: driving it themselves.

Another Way

The simple fact is that logistics is a nightmare, and dealers would make more use of their time if they could stay home between cons to work on their craft.

Unlike most, I enjoy driving, and have driven large vehicles as long as I have been driving. I have never been one for sitting anywhere long, and am more than happy  to do a hard day’s work.

I have already volunteered at conventions to unload dealer’s trucks and trailers, and build stands. It became very clear to me that this system needs to change. There are dozens of people who barely use the space of their uhauls, or overstuff their vehicles to insane degrees.

Vehicles that they then have to pay for parking for, which can be difficult due to the fact that most furcons happen directly next to airports.

It’d be far easier if many dealers shared space aboard a single truck, that drove between the conventions they intended to sell at, and their homes to pick up more of their stock.

Dear Dealers

I offer you a chance to spend much more of your time at home, save substantial amounts of money on logistics, and be confident that the people transporting your precious art knows how much it’s worth.

I love this fandom, and all the work that comes out of it. I want to help people in doing what they love too.

With Coyote Express, I offer a chance for all of us to lower stress that comes with running a business in this fandom. And to help you enjoy the space that we all love so much.
